2010/04/18 - Ballet Dancer

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing @ 21c Museum welcomes back Kathleen Dwyer, a Louisville Ballet Corps de Ballet dancer!

Originally from Philadelphia, Pa., Kathleen began her training under Olga Kresin. She graduated from Mercyhurst College with a B.A. in dance and arts administration. Kathleen has danced with Lake Erie Ballet, Channel Islands Ballet and Charleston Ballet Theatre, performing in a variety of ballets such as Don Quixote, The House of Bernarda Alba and Balanchine’s Apollo and Valse Fantasie. Now in her fifth season with the Louisville Ballet, she has been featured here in various classical and contemporary works like Four Last Songs, Lambarena, Agon, The Sleeping Beauty, Vespri and The Magic Flute. Most recently Kathleen preformed as Clara in the Nutcracker at the Kentucky Center.

2010/04/11 - Art Model

21c's Proof on Main is currently adorned with Drawings from Cabaret Life Drawing! Check out the new exhibit comprised of contributions from attendees of CLD. The exhibit will refresh itself with new drawings from the class through September!

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing @ 21c Museum welcomes back Sarah McCollum, an experienced art model and multi-faceted artist.

Sarah is an experienced art model from the Louisville area, who has been working here and in England for the past 5 years. She is also an avid artist herself - writing and illustrating her own comics, designing and creating jewelry and clothing, as well as costuming and makeup artistry work for various theatrical productions.

2010/04/04 - Playboy Easter Bunny

Happy Easter! Yep, the Sunday Series @ 21c Museum: Cabaret Life Drawing and Yoga with Art classes will be held this Easter Sunday.

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing @ 21c Museum welcomes back Sarah McCollum, an experienced art model and multi-faceted artist. In the spirit of the season, Sarah will be modeling her version of a 'Playboy Easter Bunny' costume.

Sarah is an experienced art model from the Louisville area, who has been working here and in England for the past 5 years. She is also an avid artist herself - writing and illustrating her own comics, designing and creating jewelry and clothing, as well as costuming and makeup artistry work for various theatrical productions.

2010/03/28 - Musician and Filmmaker

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing hosts Scott Carney, a local musician and filmmaker! Scott will perform with various instruments, including a theremin, an early electronic musical instrument controlled without contact from the player. Scott Carney is a Louisville born musician and filmmaker. He sings and plays guitar and other instruments for the local rock group, Wax Fang. He is a Libra, a vegetarian and loves cats.

2010/03/21 - Tanner, Hitchhiker and Adventurer

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing hosts Jess Cox, a tanner, hitchhiker, and adventurer! In the spirit of sharing traditional ways of living and primitive skills, Jess will be modeling her own buckskin creations.

Jess, 26, was born and raised in Kentucky. She went to college for painting, but discovered it was not her cup of tea. Since then, she has been traveling via thumb and train, and visiting different cities and woods. She is excited about primitive skills, ie. traditional methods for living such as tanning hides by hand, making fires with friction, and living outdoors. She also loves cooking for herself and her friends. Jess currently lives in the west end of Louisville.

2010/03/14 - Yoga Practictioner

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing hosts the multi-talented and very flexible Holly Holland! Capture Holly's unique yoga-inspired poses in both quick and sustained sketches.

Louisville native Holly Holland took up yoga at age 45, following serious illness, and discovered the healing and rejuvenating powers of a regular yoga practice. A journalist, author, and editor, she eventually obtained national certification to teach yoga and now works with about 100 students a week at the University of Louisville, Bellarmine College, Yoga on Baxter, Core Studios, and Jewish Community Center. Her specialty is Rocket yoga, a dynamic, bull-body workout that adds in more core abdominal moves, inversions, hip openers, backbends, and twists than traditional yoga classes. Rocket yoga was developed by Larry Schultz, the founder of It’s Yoga San Francisco (www.itsyoga.net. (See www.yogabyholly.com for more details.)

Holly is an avid cyclist and Pilates enthusiast. She also is the founder and director of an all-volunteer organization that has raised about $130,000 in the past five years to put Sudanese refugees through college. She received the Pioneer Innovator in Education Award in 2009 from the Gheens Foundation and the WLKY-TV Bell Award in 2008 for Outstanding Community Service.

Holly graduated from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in history and from American University with a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs. She and her husband, John Herzfeld, have two sons and a beloved miniature Schnauzer.

2010/03/07 - Art Muse and Model

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing hosts Donna McNutt, an artist muse (aka Katgurl 13), a local art model and creative muse!

Donna has modeled at various local art organizations and has been sketched and photographed by dozens of local artists.  Her leisurely pursuits include reading and writing horror fiction, sketching, gardening, fool hardy culinary endeavors and sleeping.  She has an affinity for intellect and creativity and abhors the base and commonplace.  She is an atheist, artist, humanitarian, believer in personal accountability and independence.

2010/02/28 - Artist Muse and Actor

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing hosts Matthew Jones, an artist muse and stage actor!

Matthew is a favorite life drawing model for many artists in the Louisville area. He has regularly modeled for life drawing classes at the Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center, I.U. Southeast, the Jewish Community Center, the Kentucky Watercolor Society and for many private artists and groups. He previously modeled extensively for the Louisville Visual Art Association at the now-defunct Artopia facility and at the water tower, and he has also appeared as a model at Jefferson Community College. Matthew studied theater at I.U. Southeast, and continues to perform on stage whenever possible. He most recently appeared as Dexter Jackson in "Two Beers and a Hook Shot" at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.

2010/02/21 - Belly Dancer and Burlesque Performer

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing hosts Olivia Klotz, multi-faceted dancer extraordinaire!

Olivia has Ballet training from the U of L Dance School and began Contra dancing at the Advent Church in Louisville. In 2004 she started belly dancing under the instruction of Taletha, a prominent belly dancer of Kenuckiana. Most of Olivia's dance repertoire is with the Louisville belly dance troupe Asrar Al Badre, where she performs American Cabaret, Egyptian and Gothic style belly dance with the troupe and as a soloist. She was recently introduced to Burlesque dancing and was part of Va Va Voyeur A Burlesque Show, a recent performance at the Alley Theater in Louisville. Olivia plans on joining the Burlesque troupe The Va Va Vixens later this year.

This Sunday Cabaret Life Drawing welcomes Brooke Pohl and Alyssum Pohl, a talented and lovely mother-daughter dancing duet. They will be creating tribal bellydance type-poses that come from the heart.

Brooke Pohl and Alyssum Pohl, a mother-daughter duet, have both been dancing with Rakadu Gypsy, Lexington's tribal-style bellydance troupe, for many years. Brooke also has extensive experience in modern dance, flamenco, and ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). Alyssum has been teaching bellydance classes and workshops for 6 years, and is also known as a front-bending contortionist.
